ABOUT US

Passionate Health Care Professionals

In 2019, Anna met Jean, a fellow women’s health nurse practitioner at University Hospitals. They hit it off and learned they had a shared interest in women’s sexual health. Jean introduced Anna to the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH). In 2020, Anna and Rachel met and together they formed the Women’s Sexual Health Division in the UH Urology Institute. They invited Jean to join and they have been working closely together ever since to improve the lives of women.

ANNA MYERS

Women's Health Nurse Practitioner

Anna began her career in female urology, pelvic medicine and sexuality in 2010.  She loved it so much that she went back to school and became board certified in women’s health, family and urology as a nurse practitioner.  With these certifications, she treated women for recurrent urinary tract infections, incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, vaginal burning, pelvic pain, painful intercourse and genitourinary syndrome of menopause and vulvar vaginal conditions; She realized that despite treating women for these concerns, they would still have issues with desire and orgasm. This led Anna to look for more education in sexual health.  Anna became Certified as a Sexuality Counselor by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (ASSECT).  She has also received designation as a fellow of  ISSWSH.  She currently enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team, caring for women with sexual health issues in addition to caring for men and women with urological concerns.  Anna grew up in rural Medina County, Ohio. She married Craig and they spent the last 23 years raising their two daughters in the Strongsville, Ohio suburbs .  Now as empty nesters, they enjoy city life, living in Cleveland on Lake Erie, long walks at Edgewater and lots of travel!

JEAN MARINO

Women's Health Nurse Practitioner

Jean Marino (she, her, hers) is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who works at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and specializes in both menopause and women’s sexual health. She is a North American Menopause Society certified menopause practitioner and has a fellow designation from the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health.  She loves to talk about menopause and has presented numerous times and published several articles on both menopause and sexual health. Jean was born and raised in northeast Ohio, where she went to school, married her high school sweetheart, and raised her 3 sons……some may say she is boring, but she prefers to think of herself as dedicated (and happy).

RACHEL POPE

OB/GYN Physician

Rachel is a fellowship trained and board certified reconstructive gynecologist with a passion for women's health as an act of feminism. She became interested in female sexual health while working in sub-Saharan Africa where she performed over 1200 obstetric fistula repairs (see: www.whatisobstetricfistula.com). Many of her patients there struggled with painful intercourse due to their vaginal scarring and she began to learn more about improving sexual function for them and ways to reduce their symptoms surgically. She moved back to the US when her sister was diagnosed with an aggressive form of uterine cancer. Her sister went into immediate surgical menopause and Rachel realized that despite 12 years of schooling and 7 more years of medical training, she knew little about the questions her sister asked. All of these experiences motivated her to gain additional training in menopause and sexual health and she now serves women in Cleveland, Ohio as the chief of a Female Sexual Health division in a Urology Department. Her goal is to reduce the stigma of all female sexual and reproductive health topics and empower women by increasing their own knowledge of their health.
